Portugal City Cards
City cards: frequently asked questions
Here's how to use the Lisboa Card: it starts at your first ride on public transport, not when you buy it, and you collect it as a physical card in Lisbon. In Porto, the city passes are smartphone tickets for a set of big sights, and the Highlights Pass costs less than buying its tickets one by one.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Lisboa Card?
On this site the adult card costs €31 for 24 hours, €51 for 48 hours and €62 for 72 hours. Children aged 4 to 15 have their own tier: €35 for 72 hours.
When does the Lisboa Card start counting?
At first use: from then it runs 24, 48 or 72 consecutive hours. Collecting it on the evening you land costs you nothing if you start it the next morning.
Is the Lisboa Card digital?
No, there's no app. Buying online gets you a voucher, and in Lisbon you exchange it for the physical card at one of the Ask Me Lisboa desks, the one in airport arrivals included.
Which public transport does the Lisboa Card cover?
All metro lines, Carris buses and trams, CP trains to Sintra, Cascais and Azambuja, and Fertagus trains to Setúbal. It doesn't cover the river ferries or the local buses in Sintra and Cascais.
Can I get from Lisbon airport on the Lisboa Card?
Yes: the metro is included, and the airport has its own station on the red line. Arriving in the morning, collect the card at the Ask Me Lisboa desk in arrivals and ride in on it. On an evening arrival, pay for the metro instead and start the card the next morning.
Do I have to book Jerónimos and Belém Tower with the card?
Yes, and they're the only two. Once you hold the physical card, reserve a time for each on the national monuments' ticket portal, using the card number. The places set aside for card holders are limited each day.
Do children need a Lisboa Card?
Each child aged 4 to 15 needs their own child card, since the card is personal: €35 for 72 hours. Under-4s aren't on the price list. At 12 of the included places, São Jorge Castle and the Monument to the Discoveries among them, teenagers of 13 to 15 still pay for entry.
Does the Lisboa Card include Sintra?
The train from Rossio is included, as often as you like, and so is Sintra Myths and Legends. The palaces are discounted: Pena and the National Palace of Sintra 10%, the Moorish Castle and Monserrate 15%. Quinta da Regaleira has no card benefit, and the local buses up to the palaces aren't covered.
Which included Lisboa Card sites are closed right now?
In late October 2026, six were shut. Four national museums are closed for works: Tile, Ancient Art, Archaeology, and Theatre and Dance. The Costume Museum has been shut since 2024, and the Santa Justa Lift since September 2025. Ancient Art plans a partial reopening on 21 November 2026. Some places are partly closed as well: the museum inside São Jorge Castle, Mafra's basilica and parts of Tomar's convent.
Can I get a refund on the Lisboa Card?
Yes, if you bought the card on its own: it can be cancelled up to the date you chose, though the combos can't. There's no refund once you've swapped the voucher, activated the card or let the voucher expire, and a lost or stolen card isn't replaced. Porto passes can't be cancelled at all.
Is there a city card for Porto?
Yes: Tiqets sells four Porto city passes, from €29.50, and each one puts several of the big sights on a single phone ticket.
Which Porto pass should I buy?
Pick by what you want most. The Highlights Pass (€29.50) has Clérigos, the Cathedral and the Six Bridges boat trip on the Douro. The Historic Porto Pass (€50) swaps the boat for World of Discoveries, an interactive museum of the Portuguese sea voyages. The Culture Pass (€42.50) has Serralves and an evening of fado, and the Explorer Pass (€61.50) a 48-hour sightseeing bus.
Do the Porto passes include public transport?
None of them does. For the metro and buses, including the ride from the airport, you load an Andante card. The Explorer Pass has a sightseeing bus that stops at the main sights.
Is there one card for both Lisbon and Porto?
There isn't. A trip to both cities takes a Lisboa Card for Lisbon and a Tiqets pass for Porto.
