Lisboa Card and Porto passes: what each one gets you

A Portugal city card gets you into the big sights with one purchase. In Lisbon it's the Lisboa Card: 51 museums and monuments included, plus the metro, trams and the trains to Sintra and Cascais. In Porto it's a pass: the Highlights Pass bundles Clérigos Tower, the Cathedral and a river cruise for less than their tickets one by one.

Buy Lisboa Card

For 24, 48 or 72 hours, the Lisboa Card gets you into 51 sights, Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower and São Jorge Castle among them. At 46 more places, it takes something off the bill.

You also ride the metro, buses and trams as much as you like, and take the train out to Sintra or Cascais. The hours only start at your first ride, so you can buy the card well ahead.

It’s made for a first visit with full days of sightseeing, especially with Belém or a day in Sintra on the list.

Porto city passes: the big sights for less

Porto does it differently. You pick a pass, a smartphone ticket for three or four of the big sights. The Highlights Pass costs less than its tickets one by one, and the other three save little or nothing.

The old centre is made for walking, and for the metro and buses there’s the Andante card.

Frequently asked questions

All the questions about the cards

Is a city card worth it in Lisbon?

It comes out ahead on a day with two or three paid sights and a few metro or tram rides, since the card covers both. One museum and a walk cost less paid separately. The calculator on this page adds up your own plan per person.

Is there a city card for Porto?

Yes, as Tiqets city passes: four smartphone tickets for a set of sights each, from €29.50. None of them includes transport.

Does one card cover both Lisbon and Porto?

Each city has its own. The Lisboa Card is for Lisbon, though the entries it includes go as far as the monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaça, Tomar's convent and Mafra Palace. A Porto pass covers sights in Porto, so a trip to both needs one of each.

Do I need a physical card?

For the Lisboa Card, yes: the voucher you buy online is swapped for the card in Lisbon, at the airport if you like. The Porto passes are smartphone tickets you show at the entrance. Three sights need one extra step: Serralves swaps the voucher for a paper ticket, the fado has set show times and the Burmester cellar needs a booking.
